After last week’s defeat, Henley arrived at Maidenhead determined to bounce back, full of energy, positivity and belief.

The perfect start came after just seven minutes. Henley won an early short corner, with Rosie Wilkinson pushing out to Jo Corbett at the top of the D, who smashed the ball home to make it 1–0.

Henley continued to play some excellent hockey, maintaining possession and switching beautifully across the back through Fi Dunn, Ang Botha, Katie Lovett and Isla Hallett. Maidenhead responded strongly, however, levelling ten minutes later after some clever play inside the Henley D.

Henley’s heads never dropped and Fleur Wood drove superbly down the wing before finding Jo again, who produced a magnificent back-stick flick into the top-left corner for her second of the day.

At half-time, Robyn Smith rallied the team to keep the energy, momentum and pace high. With ten minutes remaining, Rosie collected a midfield pass, raced from the 25 into the D and calmly beat the keeper one-on-one to make it 3–1.

Some fantastic late saves from Jasmine Hillyard helped Henley hold firm and secure a brilliant first win of the season!
