Henley Ladies 3s delivered a composed and determined performance in their penultimate match of the season, sealing a well‑earned 2–1 win over Maidenhead 4s under glorious blue skies. After winning the toss and taking pushback, Henley settled quickly, moving the ball confidently through midfield and controlling much of the early play. Their pressure paid off around the 20‑minute mark when a well‑worked short corner saw Rosie Wilkinson slip the ball left to captain Charlotte Irving, who fired cleanly past the keeper to open the scoring.
A brief loss of momentum followed when a Henley player was struck by a stick, and Maidenhead capitalised with a scrappy equaliser, despite strong defensive work from Fi Dunn, Martha Peach, Ang Botha and Flo Hughes. At half‑time, Coach Brandon Smith delivered a focused team talk that reignited Henley’s intensity.
Another stoppage for a Maidenhead injury didn’t shake Henley’s composure, with Steph Rowe‑Elliot providing excellent width and distribution. Persistent attacking pressure finally broke through when a goalmouth scramble ended with skipper Irving calmly slotting home her second of the match.
In the final ten minutes, Henley held firm, keeping possession and linking play smartly until the final whistle confirmed a deserved three points.
