Henley Ladies 3s dominated possession in a tightly contested match against Marlow Ladies 6s, but the game ended in a hard-fought 0–0 draw. Despite Henley’s control and attacking pressure, Marlow’s goalkeeper delivered an outstanding performance, denying multiple goal-scoring opportunities.
Henley earned a series of short corners, with Rosie Wilkinson consistently pushing out to Martha Peach, Jo Corbett, and Charlotte Irving. Each player produced strong attempts, but Marlow’s defence held firm, frustrating Henley’s efforts to convert. Nina Lloyd unleashed several great strikes in the D, yet the breakthrough remained elusive.
Henley’s wing play was a highlight, with Maeve Moorcroft, Poppy Williams, Fleur Wood, and Lizzie Briscoe making excellent runs that stretched Marlow’s defence. Steph Rowe-Elliott impressed on her debut, bringing composure and experience to the midfield.
Defensively, Henley were solid throughout. Martha Peach, Caitlin Swinburn, and Ang Botha formed a strong back line, limiting Marlow’s chances and keeping the pressure away from their own goal. Martha’s all-round performance earned her the well-deserved title of Girl of the Game.
Though Henley couldn’t find goals today, their teamwork, energy, and attacking intent were clear. Marlow’s resilience and goalkeeping heroics ensured the points were shared in this entertaining encounter.
