Henley Ladies 3s faced Wycombe Ladies 4's away in a closely contested match that ended in a 2-2 draw. The game began similarly to last week, with Henley conceding an early goal and going 1-0 down. However, the team quickly regrouped, and a well-worked move saw Fleur Wood pass the ball to Jo Corbett, who found Maeve Moorcroft—Henley’s girl of the game. Maeve delivered a powerful, straight shot that flew past the Wycombe goalkeeper to level the score.
Henley maintained pressure throughout the first half, with Fiona Dunn anchoring the defence solidly and their persistence paid off with a series of short corners, the final one leading to a classic Ingrid Johnston-Leene goal—her trademark finish coming from a slick slip-left dummy, putting Henley ahead 2-1.
Unfortunately, Wycombe responded with a strong strike from a short corner of their own, bringing the score to 2-2. Despite excellent link-up play between captain Charlotte Irving, Jo Corbett, Poppy Williams, and Maeve Moorcroft, Henley couldn’t break through again, as Wycombe’s goalkeeper made several impressive saves to deny further goals.
It was a spirited performance from Henley, showing resilience and teamwork, and they’ll be looking to convert more chances next time to secure the win.
