It was another great weekend for the Henley Ladies 2’s securing a win against Milton Keynes ladies 2’s. A great performance from the whole team was rewarded with a 4-1 win and a hat-trick from Taminah Brown.

After an energising start, Henley was given the first short corner of the match. Brown injected to Rachel Herbert at the top of the D for a straight strike that slipped past the Goalies left side giving Henley the goal. Milton Keynes fought back hard with play down the middle however hesitation on the ball allowed Katie Knight and Rosie Kemp to win the ball back for redistribution up the pitch. A last minute injection of energy from Milton Keynes before half time, caught Henley by surprise allowing an attacker to drive unchallenged into the circle and take a shot which scored leaving the score tied going into half time.

In the second half of the match Henley dominated, linking many passages of play up the middle and wings of the pitch. Brown found her self on the left hand post for a pass across the D, which, with some force, went across the goal line giving Henley a 2-1 lead. After beating a number of players, Herbert found Brown again on the edge of the D for a strike at goal, making it goal number two for the young forward. Milton Keynes fought back hard but the Henley defence were equal to their challenge, even a ball lifted above the defenders heads was swiftly dealt with by Herbert, who got contact with the ball mid air, deflecting it off to the left side of the pitch for another attack down the wing. The final goal of the match came from a ball being played to Gracie Newbold on the baseline, who looked for a Brown on the P spot. Brown controlled the ball sending it to the left hand post, rewarding her with a hat-trick. The match finished with score of 4-1 to Henley, moving them up another position in the league table. Next weekend Henley take on local rivals Maidenhead in a battle for another 3 points.
