The amber and blues started strong with some great passages of play up the wings of the pitch by Sophie Rainbow and Susie Barton. The first goal of the game came from open play after a couple of unsuccessful short corners. Rachel Herbert capitalised on a momentary lapse of concentration by the oppositions defence, receiving the ball unmarked at the top of the circle. She took the opportunity to shoot and sent the ball past the 'keeper and high into the goal, giving Henley the early lead. As the game progressed Abingdon pressed hard, putting Henley’s defence under pressure. However this was swiftly dealt with by defenders Rosie Kemp, Meg Parker, Katie Knight and Herbert, and kept Henley in the lead going into half time.
Some great play down the middle of the pitch in the second half by captain Sophy Rogers and Taminah Brown secured Henley a short corner. The ball was injected and found Sarah Drummond on the left who slipped the ball to Maria Fowler who had the important touch to put the ball past the goalie. Shortly after, Henley scored a third goal thanks to a reverse stick shot by Herbert giving Henley a 3-0 lead. In the final few minutes of the game another short corner was awarded to Henley. The whistle was blown for the end of the match and the ball was injected to Fowler who slipped the ball left to Drummond whose final touch saw the ball cross the goal line, leaving the final score as 4-0 to Henley. This gave the Henley the 3 points they wanted, pushing them up to 5th in the league table.
