Henley Women’s 2s put in a determined and hardworking performance against Amersham & Chalfont 2s, narrowly going down 0–1 in a closely fought match.
Henley started with Georgie Grocock in goal and Rachel Herbert, Mel Joyce, Alyx Clarke, Emily Mir and Georgia Fiorentino, providing a strong defensive unit. Sophie Miller, Emma Joseph, Sophy Rogers and Charlotte Jean Jean worked tirelessly in midfield, linking play and battling hard for possession, while Hayley Munt, Emma Buckham-Hedges, Bethan Lewis and Amelie Bayfield led the attacking line.
From the first whistle, Henley showed plenty of fight and commitment. The midfield worked hard to create opportunities, while the defence remained organised and battled hard against a determined Amersham & Chalfont attack.
Despite Henley’s best efforts, A&C managed to find a breakthrough and took a 1–0 lead before halftime. Henley continued to push for an equaliser but the second goal proved frustratingly elusive.
Man of the Match, Georgie was exceptional between the posts, producing numerous saves and showcasing her fantastic reactions, bravery and composure to keep the scoreline at just 0–1. Her performance gave Henley every chance of getting something from the game right until the final whistle.
The whole team deserves credit for the effort and determination shown throughout. Although the result didn’t go Henley’s way, the performance demonstrated plenty of character, with every player contributing and working hard for one another.
