Despite it being half term, Henley managed to field a good team and started off with a good positive mindset.
Since the Christmas break, the team has settled down to a new structure and, with the addition of a few more experienced players, has benefitted as a whole. After her recent injury, goalie Maddy Teebo also returned between the posts and made a number of crucial saves, including a one on one with the Witney centre forward.
Rachel Herbert, in the centre of defence, was able to find the space to spray the ball around and repeatedly found forwards Esme Emmett and Flic Jeffries who linked up on a number of occasions to play the ball around the keeper and slot the ball home from vai. Henley were able to keep their defence tight and despite giving away a number of penalty corners (ably defended by the pace of Rosie Kemp and the shot blocking tackles of Karen Walker), were able to keep Witney at bay.
Henley still need to win a few more games to make themselves safe in the league, but they can be extremely pleased with the style of play they are now producing and the fitness and skills they are showing.
