Henley Women's 2s Crowned League Champions with Crucial Win Over Maidenhead

On the hottest day of the year so far, Henley Ladies 2s secured back-to-back league titles with a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Maidenhead Ladies 2s — a rare and impressive achievement in any sporting arena.

Henley knew that victory would seal the championship for the second consecutive season, but the occasion perhaps showed early on. They came out of the blocks slower than usual, struggling to find their rhythm in the first half. Despite creating a handful of chances, Henley were repeatedly denied by an outstanding performance from the young Maidenhead goalkeeper, whose sharp reactions kept the scores level.

At half time, with the game locked at 0–0, Henley needed a response. A motivating team talk from coach Hayley Rogers provided exactly that spark.

Henley emerged for the second half with renewed energy and intent, immediately raising the tempo to their usual high standard. Their pressure soon paid off. A slick move from a long corner saw the ball moved quickly and precisely through the team, finding Hayley Munt, who calmly slotted home to break the deadlock.

The goal settled Henley, who continued to press with confidence and attacking purpose. Their persistence was rewarded again following a rapid counterattack. A brilliant strike from Kirsten Botha forced a save from the goalkeeper, but Munt was perfectly positioned to convert the rebound and secure her second goal of the game.

From there, Henley maintained control, showcasing excellent teamwork and composure to see out the match through to the final whistle.

The 2–0 victory confirms Henley Ladies 2s as league champions, securing the title for a second consecutive season — a testament to their consistency, resilience, and quality throughout the campaign.

With one final game remaining, Henley can now look forward to celebrating in front of a home crowd as they round off a remarkable season.
