Henley Ladies 2s went into today’s fixture knowing it would be a tough challenge against a strong Newbury Ladies 1s side. A focused pre-match team talk set the tone, and from the first whistle, Henley showed their intent — pressing hard, playing with flair, and refusing to let Newbury settle.

In classic Henley fashion, they took control early, with crisp passing and confident movement. Their efforts were soon rewarded with a lightning-fast breakaway. Ellia Gurney picked up the ball and drove forward with power and composure, finding striker, Chloe Lyons in the D, who clinically slotted the ball past the keeper with a composed finish — a brilliantly worked and well-executed team goal.

Henley maintained their dominance, piling pressure on the Newbury defence. Unfortunately, the game was paused following a serious injury to one of the Henley players.
