Henley started strong putting pressure on Oxford’s defence, with the midfield and forwards linking up well. Oxford won the ball and broke quickly winning a short corner in the 6th minute. Their well-practised short corner meant that Oxford went 1-0 up.
Henley fought back, with some great movement upfront from Georgie Metcalfe and Louisa England which lead to a well-deserved goal by Lara Wilkinson in the 10th minute. Henley continued to dominate the first half with a strong defensive performance by Kat Green, Rachel Herbert and Chloe Nelson. Half time came and it was 1-1 with everything to play for.
Oxford started the second half strong playing higher and putting more pressure on Henley. However Henley continued their strong performance with Louisa England winning a short corner in the 42nd minute. Rachel Herbert’s straight strike at goal meant that Henley were 2-1 up.
Oxford continued to pressure Henley’s defence which lead to them winning the ball and scoring in the 53rd minute making it 2-2. Both teams continued to play well and after full time the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
