Vital points gained after dominant display and a hat-trick for Proudfoot jnr!

Henley 4s took on Slough Swifts 3s in Henley late in the afternoon on Saturday. Both teams were in the relegation zone so there was something to play for. Henley took the lead early with a tap in from Dom Proudfoot as the home side looked to dominate the game early on. However, it was Slough who scored shortly after, to make it 1-1, possibly shifting Henley out of complacency.

Back from injury, it was Ali Slay who went on a run through the middle of the pitch from his own half and smashed the ball into the goal to make it 2-1. Later Henley won a short corner which was flicked away to make it 3-1 - also by Slay. Henley were having all the possession and getting the ball into the Slough D repeatedly. Shortly after, Dom Proudfoot received the ball behind him in the D. Rolling over backwards he deftly deployed a reverse stick sweep to make it 4-1. But Henley weren’t done yet. They won another short corner towards the end of the half which was saved by the keeper but only as far as Proudfoot, who put it away to complete his hat trick and make it 5-1 at half time.

The second half got under way and Henley were still attacking. They scored again from Rupert Wiseman, who received a pass from Proudfoot to make it a “1 on 1” with the keeper. In another Henley move, the ball fell to Alex Woolfrey, who put the ball away to make it 7-1. Another excellent cross from Dom Proudfoot picked out Neil Emmett to make it 8-1. Henley were not done and scored a 9th goal, this time Ian Rechner was on the end of an excellent pass in the D from Proudfoot who was having the game of his life.
