Truly trying trip to Tring

The match was played at the RAF Halton pitch. It was a cold day with constant drizzle.

Tring started positively and throughout the game broke quickly and spread the ball well. Tring took early shots from the top of the dee, shots struck hard finding corners or a Tring player working off the far post. Even the miss hits, topped balls were finding a way through.

Midway through the first half it was 3-0. The first Henley goal was scored by Draycott from a short corner. Push out by Draycott, stop by Austin pass by Roberts to Draycott. Draycott pushed the ball first time low into the goal, a well worked routine. At half time it was 4-1.

In the second half Henley started brightly and forced a second Henley goal, scored by by Roberts from a short corner. Push out by Draycott, stop by Austin, there was a rebound and a final strike from Roberts through the keeper's legs.

A tough day for the Henley goal keeper Rechner but Rechner kept shots out and made important saves. Austin distributed well from the back and interworked effectively with Roberts at right back. Price and Draycott were industrious in the middle but suffered from some unwelcome and rough opposition tackling. Cottam effective as ever, driving at pace into the D but did not get many decisions from the Umpires.
J Herbert, fill-in left back, battled and tackled hard and was a terrific outlet with the assistance of Marshall. J Herbert had an excellent game. The youth players too, continue to improve, with growing composure, strength and telling front play. This was hugely helped by intelligent support and effort from Barrass.

Tring 1s have been injected into MBBO Division 3 by the League through the amalgamation of Tring 1, formerly of MBBO Regional 2, and Tring 2, formerly of MBBO 6. Tring 1s will do very well this season if they can turn up with this team for all the away matches.

A tough day on the pitch, 8-2 at the end. There will be better days ahead for Henley.
