Henley Men’s 2s were forced to settle for a point in an entertaining 2–2 draw with Thame Men’s 1s this weekend.
Henley started brightly and were rewarded with the lead early on. Nico Jean-Jean carved open the defence and found a killer pass to captain Will Beaumont who deflected home for 1-0.
Thame responded well and gradually worked their way back into the contest as they found an equaliser, sending the teams into half time level at 1–1.
Henley regained the advantage in the second half with another well-worked attacking move. This time Robert Farina produced an excellent run forward before picking out Nico Jean-Jean, who finished confidently to restore Henley’s lead.
Once again, however, Thame refused to go away and managed to draw level for a second time. From there the visitors defended resolutely, frustrating Henley in the closing stages and denying them a late winner they felt their performance merited.
