Henley Mens 5s v Milton Keynes (Cancelled)

Henley Mens 5th XI were due to play their tenth league match of the season against Milton Keynes 6 on Saturday 1st December 2018, at home at Jubilee Park.

Rather disappointingly, Milton Keynes was unable to gather a sufficient number of players for the match to be able to go ahead so had to concede the match to Henley. Whilst an additional three points in the league and 5-0 win awarded to Henley are greatly appreciated, the disappointment at not having a game was palpable. Rallying the troops, the numbers of available players swelled from the original line up of 14 up to 22, providing sufficient numbers to play a friendly match comprised of two full teams. What was most significant about the match was that all players were affiliated to Henley Hockey Club and that there were 9 sets of fathers playing with their sons/daughter, even one set spanning three generations. To help maintain family concord, family members played on the same sides and a hard-fought match culminated in a close 5-4 result.
