Off the back of the Commonwealth Games and the success of the England Senior Hockey Teams, there’s a lot of excitement around Hockey - and Henley Hockey Club are proud to be leading the way!!
Who would have thought that a small club like Henley could deliver a string of achievements which any club would be proud of? And we’re going to shout about them….
Mens 1st XI players forge the way with Matt Riches currently representing England O35 in the World Cup at Nottingham, David Ralph coaching GB Ladies, Danny Newcombe coaching Wales Men, Tim Drummond captaining South Africa Men and Rhys Joyce, ex Wales and Reading, coaching both our Mens and Ladies 1st XI. Let’s add on former youth player Fred Newbold selected for Wales.
Ladies 1st XI players Kat Green and Hayley Munt were selected for the South Central O35s playing in the National Regional tournament this summer.
Junior county selections this season were the highest year yet with 15 of our academy players selected across the U13 to U17 Oxfordshire & Berkshire Teams, with 3 player commendations and 1 player of the year. Lauren Hilditch and Katy Shaw were both also selected for the Regional Performance Centre squads.
Quite a season!!
Training will start back soon - and we can’t wait to see what the 2022/23 season holds for us all.
