Henley Ladies suffered a closely fought 3-2 defeat at their home ground on Saturday.

The first half was tough after Hampstead and Westminster, full of confidence, pressed hard and took their chances well to take a 2-0 lead. Henley responded well to going 2-0 down and kept a tight defensive press and with several hopeful chances, kept the scores the same and ended the first half 2-0 down.

After half time Henley was a completely different team. Taking Hampstead and Westminster by surprise, captain Georgie Metcalfe set the tempo winning a dramatic short corner. This led to Henley's first goal through an unstoppable straight strike by Kat Green firing into the bottom left corner.

Against the run of play, Hampstead and Westminter then went on to score their third goal, however this did not dampen Henley's drive to keep pushing forward. This soon led to Henley's second goal which was a well worked team effort ending with Emma Buckham-Hedges slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Everything was to play for and dominating the game Henley were out for the equaliser. With several short corner chances and a penalty flick, the amber and blues narrowly missed out on the equaliser.
