Henley were aware of Witney's high-scoring ways, but this did not deter the home team. Setting off straight from the whistle, Henley let Witney know that the game would be a contest. With strong attacks across the pitch led by forward and man of the match, Billie Moore, Henley came close to scoring. However, Witney caught Henley defence on a quick break, winning a penalty corner and converting the goal.
This only made Henley fight harder. With the majority of possession, Henley won a flurray of penalty corners but Witney's defence were on the ball. Quick play down the left hand side by Ellie Roseff, bypassing several Witney players, created an opening for the Henley side for Moore to send a superb ball across to captain Georgie Metcalfe who slotted the ball into the goal, drawing the scores level. The game became increasingly scrappy with several green and yellow cards dished out by the card-happy umpires. Despite Henley's best efforts to keep Witney out, the opposition scored again. Henley fought on to the final whistle with everyone putting in 110% effort but unfortunately time ran out.
Next week, Henley face local rivals Reading away.
