Unfortunate deflection levels score

The game started fairly even with no clear cut attacking chances from either side, alongside good defending from both teams. The deadlock was broken towards the end of the first half with a textbook quick break. Charlotte Cockerton picked the ball up on the halfway line and after skilfully dribbling around several players, she slipped the ball to Emma Walker who smashed the ball home to given Henley the lead. Henley shortly came close again with a run of short corners but Wycombe managed to clear the ball off the line. With tight defending and calm distribution from Meg Moran, Henley were on top for the remainder of the half.

The second half started similarly to the first half. There was good attacking play from Henley with some neat passing but unfortunately they could not score that much needed 2nd goal. There were a couple of half chances from both teams but both defences remained strong. With 10 minutes left Wycombe applied some pressure and a shot from the top of the D took an awkward deflection to take it past the keeper to level the score. Both sides then pressed for the winner but the score remained at 1-1.
