Unfortunately, Southgate were unable to field a full team with only 8 players against Henley’s full squad which had a strange effect on the game. Southgate started strong taking Henley by surprise, needing Henley defenders Kat Green, Sophie Hoskins and Kath Draycott to step in. Once Henley regained their composure and settled into the game, attacking play came thick and fast. Southgate packed their defence in a bid to prevent Henley from scoring but Henley were able to finish the first half 3-0 up with goals from Lou England, Charlotte Cockerton and Billie Moore. Southgate came out fighting in the second half but again Henley were able to put 2 more goals past them scored by Cockerton and Jem Barham leading to a final result of 5-0 to the home team.
