Henley 1s knew the competition would be tough, however were up for the challenge. Tulse Hill and Dulwich attacked from the whistle, but Henley stepped up their performance working tirelessly to defend their goal. Tulse Hill and Dulwich were awarded several short corners and scored two goals from well-rehearsed routines. However, this didn’t put off the amber and blues, who continued to attack led by Emma Walker and Georgie Metcalfe on the wings and forwards Moore, Ellie Roseff and Emma Buckham-Hedges. Henley were awarded several short corners but were unable to convert against Tulse Hill’s strong goalkeeper. Despite the away team leading 3-0 at the start of the second half, Henley upped their game, with midfielders Lou England, Emma England and Meg Moran closing down the middle of the pitch, holding the team tightly together in the press. The away team managed to slot away one more well-constructed goal before the game ended, resulting in the final score of Henley 0 – Tulse Hill & Dulwich 4.
Despite the loss, it was an incredible performance from Henley Ladies 1s and a great start to the season.
