New Captains relief

The Henley 4th team got off to an extraordinary start to their 2015-2016 season with a 4-0 thumping of newly promoted Bicester Development. The new faces of Adam Warner and Philip Biggs looked strong straight from the off and were much need additions to the Henley team with the loss of star man Ian Rechner to the 3rd team.

Henley started strong and after a winding run and a strong hit from outside the area from Julian Herbert, Neil Emmett pounced on the rebound off of the post and swept it in on his reverse stick. Henley were the better team and should have has 3 or 4 goals before half time but were not able to put away their chances resulting in a 1-0 lead being taken into the break by the home team.

Henley sped out of the blocks after half time and immediately put on the pressure with Julian Herbert again dumbfounding the opposition with a skillful run before slipping it into Jules Aplin who finished calmly. Doubling their lead boosted Henley’s spirits and nice work from new boy Philip Biggs lead to an easy tap in for the battling Simon Taylor and the game looked heavily in Henley’s grasp. Spotting an opportunity for a debut goal, Adam Warner positioned himself in the area and was rewarded with a fierce ball from Simon Taylor and he volleyed the flying ball into the left corner of the goal.

This winning start was appreciated by new captains Simon Ward and James Lane who were thrilled to get three points on the board.
