Disappointing start by Henley

Henley lost yet another league game at the hands of a solid Oxford team. The game got off to a disappointing start for the visitors and mix up in the Henley defence gifted the ball to Oxford who converted with a first time shot from the edge of the box. The home team kept up the torrent of attacks and 10 minutes later they got a short corner and converted confidently. This second goal sparked the Henley attacks and the game began to draw level as Henley provided many more great attacks. Simon Taylor was a great outlet down the right wing but the forwards couldn’t quite provide the finish.

After a short delay at half time due to issues with the floodlights it was Henley who came out brightest and despite taking control of the game failed to convert. Henley gained short corner after short corner but yet again they could not find the back of the net. The game failed to pick up any speed after that it began to fizzle out. With 5 minutes remaining Henley’s defence was caught napping and Oxford picked up their third goal through a counter attack. Henley came away from the game with another disappointing result and stay near the foot of the table.
