Local derby ends in defeat

Henley 4s were not able to continue their form from the last match as they struggled to a 4-2 defeat against an athletic Wallingford side.

Wallingford started strongly and netted an early goal through a quick counter attack. Henley took longer to get into the game but ten minutes later Ian Rechner dribbled into the D before flicking the ball into he top of the net. Tim Herbert put in sterling effort in goal but Henley’s defence was caught cold twice and they conceded two straightforward goals in five minutes. Henley made good passes but were not able to find the finish as the game entered half time at 3-1.

After half time the game heated up and Henley made many more attacks but the 5th goal of the game came from another Wallingford counter attack, which led the game into the final 15 minutes at 4-1. Archie Clark made a great run down the right hand side and laid the ball off to Neill Emmett. A deflection led the ball into the reach of Ewan Watkins who converted calmly.
