Henley came up against a somewhat surprisingly strong side in Bicester 2s as they crumbled to an agonising loss. The game seemed contestable right from the off as the Henley forwards, supplied by the experience in midfield made some great advances, but to no avail. Bicester got their first goal of the match with what was practically their first attack. The pace of their counter caught out the Henley defence and the visitors went down 1-0.
After the break the Henley side came out raring go, knowing a win would jump them a few places in the table. Shortly into the second half Henley got a goal back as John-Jo Cottam finished off a stellar Henley move and got them back on level terms. Shortly after, the home side thought they had regained their lead as a bouncing ball bemused rookie goalkeeper Ed Newbold but it was deemed that no Bicester player got the finishing touch. However it was not long before the lead was restored a close range finish punished the sleeping Henley side. The 3s pushed on and put on a ten minute onslaught of the Bicester goal, but inevitably the long journey back to Henley had the team feeling somewhat disheartened.
