Henley 3s 3-0 Bicester 2s
Henley 3s combatted their poor start to the season with an outstanding team performance against a strong Bicester second team.
Straight from kick off, Henley were on the upper foot as the youth of the forwards began created chance after chance but none of them were put away. The most noticeable of these came from a long ball from defence, which Ewan Watkins picked up and squared to Liam Peachy who pushed it just past the post. At the other end of the pitch, Bicester were only able to break past the solid defence of Henley a few times but all shots were cleared by the on form Bobby Boydell in the Henley net.
After the half time break Henley came out wanting to win after not being able to convert the majority of possession into goals. Henley were able to do this shortly after the break as Nico Chessman broke the line of defence and his wayward shot deflected off of the foot of a Bicester defender into the back of the goal. This goal spurred Henley on and shortly after they got their second of the match. Tim Herbert surged forward from the midfield and delivered a great ball to Liam Peachy whose first touch took him round the defender and his second guided the ball into the bottom left corner. The Henley defence weren’t going to be broken down and Rowan Austin, Tony Conway Hughes and Mike Cordrey were solid throughout. Near to the end Sam Brown intercepted a weak Bicester clearance, rounded the keeper and squared for Rupert Wiseman who had a tap in to seal the win for Henley.
