3 wins on the bounce for the 2s

With the Henley 2s successfully taking 3 points in their last two games, the Amber and Blues were intent on keeping the run going against visitors, Ramgarhia 1s.

Henley started the first half well, however like many games this season they found themselves 1-0 down against the run of play, after a converted penalty flick from the opposition. The home side kept up the pressure on the visitors, and soon had their own penalty flick chance to level the match. Captain Richard Woolfrey stepped up to the spot, with the chance of reaching the long awaited personal milestone of 200 league goals for the club. The wait however would continue, with the keeper successfully preventing the flick from reaching the back of the net.

Henley continued to dominate play and pressure the visitors goal. The reward for this good play was to be a short corner, which was powerfully converted into the left corner by Nicolas Jean-Jean. The run of play continued to flow in the home sides favour and another short corner soon followed, this time scored by Jody Measures to make it 2-1.

Henley would soon increase their lead further, this time from open play. After some good expansive play, Richard Woolfrey received the ball at the top of the D, and rocketed the ball into the far corner of the goal, finally bringing to an end the long wait to join the elite 200 club.

The home side continued to seek to extend their lead, and they did not have to wait long for a fourth. With another successfully converted short corner from Nicolas Jean-Jean, his second of the game.

From the beginning of the second half the intensity increased with aggressive tackles flying in from both sides. With the match become increasingly fiery, the umpires had no choice but to issue several green cards. Henley however managed to regain their cool, and they soon added to their lead after some excellent baseline work from Jody Measures for his second of the game.

With Henley 5-1 up with 15 minutes left to play, the home side let their foot off the pedal and Ramgarhia soon took their chances. After some scrappy play in the D, the opposition slotted successfully into the back of the home goal. This was quickly followed by a third away goal from a well executed short corner at the post. Henley however, held their nerve, with the game finishing at 5-3, taking away another well deserved 3 points to extend their run of victories and keep the pressure on the two sides above them in the league.

Man of the Match went deservedly to Ed Hughes-Burne for an embattled and dominant display in the middle.
