More positives than negatives for Henley

Henley set out this year to build a reputation in South Premier Division. But a request from the opposition not to arrive at the ground a minute more than one hour before push-back, as so not to upset the school children, shows there’s still a bit more work to go on in this area.

But little did this affect Henley’s preparation. A quick game of Roy-ball (rebranded), a Mr Motivator special and a rousing speech from the Interim left Henley feeling energised and ready to cause an upset.

And so they started the brighter, taking the lead through Jonny Taylor, who latched on to the end of a flowing Henley attack. Henley then nearly made it two. Hibberd scurrying down the baseline to pull back to Walter to drag wide his first open goal miss of the day.
However, OGs started to gain momentum and pulled it back to 1-1 shortly after. Henley again took the lead, Luke Gupta finishing off a great team counter attack, but OGs levelled again going into the break.

The second half unfortunately saw the game run away from Henley. OGs started to spray the ball around with confidence and managed to take and extend a lead. Lively closing stages to the game had OGs seeing yellow first, a rash tackle on Rob Rowe seeing him take a bash to the noggin, which presumably affected his later decision making, before Joyce then took a breather for himself with a mistimed challenge.

A few late goals saw the game end in a 6-2 defeat for Henley.
