Henley beaten by Havant

After suffering a couple of poor defeats in the last 2 weeks, Henley Men's 1st team were looking for improvement against some tough opposition in the form of Havant Men’s 1s.

The opening exchanges were very even, chances coming at both ends, with Henley goalkeeper Roy Cox reacting well to keep out a couple of sharp drag flicks from Havant’s potent flicker. There was, however nothing Henley could do to keep out a hard low flick to move make it 1-0 to Havant. Henley managed to keep themselves well in the game, entering the opposition D a number of a number of occasions, but two Havant goals, in the 5 minutes either side of half time left the score at 3-0, and an injury to midfielder Mani Kochar left the home team with a steep chase.

A goal from Geoff Joseph gave Henley a bit of hope in the second half, but 2 more goals for Havant sealed the game, and it finished 5-1 to Havant.

Despite the result, this was a much improved performance, and will encourage this Henley team, and they will feel confident of picking up more points in the coming weeks, starting away at London Wayfarers next Saturday.
