Henley Men’s 1st team continued their first season in Southern Premier League 1 with a match to forget, away at Oxford Hawks Men’s 1st team.
On a slick pitch, Henley slumped to a 6-0 thrashing thanks to three goals in either half of the match by Hawks. Despite being in advanced positions throughout, Henley were unable to unlock the home side’s door, and were left extremely vulnerable on the counter attack. Rob Rowe had a solid match at right back, and deservedly won the man of the match award for Henley, but there was little else for the away side to celebrate on a damp day in Oxford.
Henley will hope for a better performance next weekend, where they face title-hopefuls Havant Hockey Club in the league on Saturday, and Southgate Hockey Club in the HA Cup on the Sunday. Both fixtures at Jubilee Park.
