Its was perfect crisp clear morning and sunshine morning with sunny conditions down at Jubilee Park
Henley Hockey Club Mens 5th XI played at home against Witney 3rd XI.
From the start whistle, Henley were on the offensive pushing up into Witney's half and creating a perfect opportunity for Henley centre forward Andy Farrow to score the first goal. Stepping up the pressure against Witney, mid-fielders Max Hems and Henry Davis once again took the ball up in to Witney's 25 yard area and a concise pass via Alan Mortimer was fed in to the D and expertly dispatched into Witney's goal by Andy Farrow. Henley's third goal was scored by centre back James Moore whose defence of a Witney attack, became a full blown offensive charge up through the midfield culminating in a concise and accurate strike into Witney's goal.
Starting the second half with Henley 3-0 up, Witney then upped their pace and came back with a couple of fast charges on Henley's goal that were seen off by goal keeper Joe Selvester and fullback Nick Shuttleworth. Despite their best defensive efforts Witney eventually managed to score their first goal against Henley. To secure their lead position Henley stepped up their offensive play and a fourth goal was scored by Max Hems. Henley kept the pressure up in to the final minutes of the game when centre-forward Andy Farrow scored his hat-trick for the match securing a convincing win for Henley 5s. End result 5-1 win to Henley 5s at full time and colt player Max Hems voted man of the match.
