South Berkshire U14 Boys too good for Henley

It was Henley who began this match more brightly as McAllister and Fundell combined well down the right wing. Henley could easily have stolen an early lead but the South Berkshire defence held strong and they were able to counterattack, quickly exploiting the Henley defence and forcing Selvester to make early saves. The first period ended 0-0 and the game was evenly matched.

South Berkshire exerted some dominance in the second period and two quick goals left Henley heads hanging. A third goal before the period ended left Henley a mountain to climb.

Henley, always positive, tried to keep the attack and there were moments of strong hockey, particularly through Shaw, Cheesman, Heggie, McAllister and Fundell maximising the opportunities down the right hand side of the pitch. Opportunities in the D were hard to come by leaving it a frustrating day for Harding and Johnson (Jamie).

Unlike the forward line, the defence had plenty to do and had to work hard. Selvester continued a strong season in goal but was unable to stop the wave of attacks from South Berkshire, some of which resulted in 3 on 1 situations. South Berkshire put another 3 goals past Henley and the game was well and truly won by the home side. This was the first defeat of the season for the Henley U14 Boys and leaves plenty to work on at training. McAllister was deservedly voted man of the match.
