3 goals in a well earned victory against Oxford

This was a much improved display from Henley and the team is growing in confidence.

Fisher found himself in the right place up front on many occasions during this game and he had the first two clear chances of the match for Henley, both unfortunately going wide. Phillips netted the first goal with one of many fine runs down the left flank. His pace was an asset throughout this match and he was able to combine well with Fielder, Fisher and Petrie up front.

Oxford got a goal back through some quick passing play and this match provided end to end entertainment for the spectators. For Henley, Shaw and Davis were commanding in midfield, working well together in both attack and defence, Davis working tirelessly to get back behind the ball when Oxford broke forward quickly. And it was Shaw who scored the second goal for Henley as the ball broke free in the D after a Dino Cheesman attacking run.

Enzo Cheesman was impressive in left defence, managing to push up the pitch and provide strong passes to Phillips and infield to Shaw and Davis. Knight was superb at centre back, thwarting several Oxford attacks and showing the occasional run through midfield, even setting up one goal scoring chance with a super ball right into the Oxford D. Alliston made several solid tackles in right defence and pushed up high to support Parsons who proved strong again on the right flank.

It was Parsons who scored the final goal, tapping in the ball at close range following the hard work of man-of-the-match Fielder, who beat 2 playesr and the goal keepr to set the opportunity up.

Selvester, making an impressive debut in goal keeper kit, made life difficult for the opposition throughout with his attacking style and stopped the Oxford strike force from adding a second with a range of superb saves. This won't be the last time he steps into the goalie kit for Henley.
