Henley Hockey Club held its annual dinner and dance at Badgemore Golf Club on Saturday night. Some 80 members were present to congratulate winners of the club's annual awards, recognising achievements both on and off the field.
The Winners
Club player of the year (Men) – Richard Woolfrey as the club's top goal-scorer with 32 goals in a season which saw his team, the Men's 2s promoted.
Club player of the year (Ladies) – Sarah Drummond, for displaying selfless dedication to the Ladies 2s and 3s
Young player of the year (Ladies) – Katie Butler for huge improvement which has seen her earn and keep a place in the Ladies 1s.
Young player of the year (Men) – Fred Newbold for being the youngest member of the 1s/2s squad and for selection to JRPC last season.
Young club person of the year (Ladies) – Hannah Holloway for improvement as a player, for helping with colts every week and for umpiring.
Young club person of the year (Men) – a joint award to Liam Peachey for his willingness to help with umpiring both junior and senior games and to James Rechner for improvements as a player and for assisting with Colts' coaching on Sundays.
Team of the Year (Ladies) – 2s - since Christmas, the team has transformed, youngsters have improved and despite relegation there has been a great team spirit.
Team of the Year (Men) – 2s for winning the MBBO League 2 title and for promotion to League 1 for the first time, scoring over 100 goals in the process.
Club person of the year (Ladies) – Caroline Jones for taking on the thankless role of child safeguarding and welfare officer and for performing the role of dedication and good humour.
Club person of the year (Men) – Midge Brown for unstinting devotion to the club as a coach and umpire.
