The Eagles won four and drew just one of their matches. Edward Cary was a goal-scoring machine and his work rate in attack and defence was incredible throughout the morning. Albie Tomlinson also showed never-ending energy and his strategic passing and movement off the ball, along with numerous goals, earned him the team’s Player of the Tournament. Emily Bryan illustrated mighty strength and was fearless in her tackling and Maddie Chandrapal was also instrumental in creating break-away runs for her teammates as well as blocking the opposition from advancing towards goal.
The Dolphins started their tournament with two excellent 2-0 wins, with Seren Quinn getting all four of what became a countless number of goals for the Player of the Tournament. Piper Rey gave 100% to every single match, and her ‘pouncing’ on the opposition rewarded the Dolphins with a number of goals in Henley’s favour. Summer Sharkey showed strength in marking, tackling and passing, as well as some great break-away runs which saw her rewarded with a goal in the final match. Verity made some outstanding pinpoint tackles and displayed excellent composure on the ball. The team lost the third game in a thrilling match that ended 4-3, then drew 3-3, before finishing the morning with an excellent 4-1 win.
Lead coach Kat Green remarked that the progress made by all the Year 2 players since the previous tournament was exceptional and it is hugely rewarding see the boys and girls put practice into action and visibly see them thinking about tactics as well as technique.
