Aims &
Objectives of Oxfordshire Hockey Umpires Association:
Aims:
To promote
hockey umpiring at all levels within Oxfordshire.
To encourage
more people to umpire and to take the examination to attain the Umpire (Level-1)
qualification.
To encourage
clubs to put forward more people for umpire coaching and to take the Umpire Level-1)
qualifying examination.
To
continually aim to improve the standard and consistency of hockey umpiring through
coaching.
To emphasize
the importance and necessity for good, qualified hockey umpires.
Objectives:
To continue
to develop the joint Oxfordshire Hockey Umpires Association to carry on the present policy
and expand the umpire training, coaching and qualification programmes.
To continue
to increase the number of qualified Umpire Coaches in Oxfordshire.
To coach,
examine and qualify at least ten additional Level-1 umpires per season.
To
watch/coach each qualified umpire, under match conditions, at least once (and preferably
twice) each season by a qualified Umpire Coach.
To use
external (Level-3) Umpire Coaches to assist in umpire coaching days and in the supervision
and coaching of Oxfordshire's Umpire Coaches.
To encourage
schools to become involved in developing umpiring and to promote the importance and
necessity of umpiring.
