13 October 2002 Gloucestershire U18s 1:3 Oxfordshire U18s Oxfordshire travelled to Cheltenham on Sunday to play Gloucestershire in a friendly match. Playing together for more of less the first time the Oxfordshire girls showed a lot of promise despite losing 3-1. With regular goal keeper Alice Cookson out of action due to injury, Emma Bannister was pulled up from the County U16 squad and was outstanding in goal working well with Katy Allen, Bonnie Sherbourne, and Lucy Allen in defence. The teams turned round at half time with Glos having bagged a goal from a short corner. Oxon were unlucky not to equalise when their sweeper, Kate Murphy, made a penetrating run at goal from her own half but was unable to finish with a crucial shot. The second half started well for the Oxon girls with Toni Scarth, Charlotte Williams and Lisa Duncan working well in midfield. Patient work was rewarded when Aly Billington slipped the ball from the top of the circle to Katrina Mason who swept it into the back of the net to equalise. Gloucestershire fought back to regain the lead from a short corner and sealed the game in the closing stages with a goal from open play. Oxon U18 Squad |

Oxon U14 girls maintained their unbeaten record in the County Championship by beating Hants and Bucks at Cranfield on Sunday Oxfordshire U14s 3 : 1 Hampshire U14s Scorers: Micky Ashman 2 - Natasha Nunneley 1 Some great attacking play from Micky Ashman and Natasha Nunneley caused Hants all sorts of problems with Oxon taking the lead early in the first half after Micky put away a rebound from the Hants goalkeeper. Hants then came back into the game and following poor marking they equalised from close range but Oxon immediately responded and regained the lead from the re-start with a great solo effort and shot from Natasha Nunneley. In the second half Oxon rebuffed a number of Hants attacks with outstanding defensive work from Sabrina Shortland and Megan Jones. With Oxon's midfield of Sandie Anderson and Takara Haynes taking control Hants were unable to get back into the game and after another great run and shot from Sandie Anderson, Ashman put the ball away off another rebound from the keeper. Squad - Sandie Anderson, Micky Ashman, Catherine Ashton, Jessica Chambers, Rebecca Dean, Samantha Field, Victoria Field, Tacita Haynes, Takara Haynes, Megan Jones, Natasha Nunneley, Sabrina Shortland, Alice Talbot, Alice Williams and Jo Lee. Oxfordshire U14s 3 : 2 Buckinghamshire U14s Scorers - Natasha Nunneley 2 - Micky Ashman 1 This proved to be a tough game against an opposition who were also unbeaten in the Championship. Ashman, Nunneley and Anderson put pressure on the Bucks defense with devastating pace and accurate passing resulting in the first goal from Nunneley with a shot from the top of the circle that beat both defenders and goalkeeper. As in the first match of the day, Bucks then came back into the game and equalised mid-way through the first half. The match then became very open with fine saves from Alice Williams keeping out the Bucks attack. Just before the break a fierce shot from Nunneley was parried by the Bucks keeper and Ashman was on hand to score from the rebound. The second half was very tough and needed some outstanding defensive work from Catherine Ashton in the centre of defense and again non-stop work from Takara Haynes and Sandie Anderton in midfield. Early in the second half Oxon scored again from Nunneley with another shot from the top of the circle. Bucks then scored again with just 5 minutes remaining and they continued to pile on the pressure to the end but the Oxon defense stood firm to come out worthy winners. Squad - Sandie Anderson, Micky
Ashman, Catherine Ashton, Jessica Chambers, Rebecca Dean, Samantha Field, Victoria Field,
Tacita Haynes, Takara Haynes, Megan Jones, Natasha Nunneley, Sabrina Shortland, Alice
