Henley Hockey Club's archive is now held at the National Hockey Museum in Woking

Over the past two years, a group of volunteer enthusiasts has started a National Hockey Museum in Woking. In premises offered by the local council in order to attract visitors to a valuable sporting asset, many donations have been received from across the country.

Material is readily available from the many hockey clubs which have or which are in the process of moving clubhouses and pitches to accommodate Astroturf pitches, but unfortunately much of it has been discarded too hastily.

However at Henley Hockey Club, our founder Ken Clarke kept meticulous and detailed records. All the original history, fixture cards, results with goal scorers and Henley Standard reports from 1951 onwards are now registered at the Museum as Item 382.

It is surprisingly the only Hockey Museum in the world. The aim is to encourage Clubs to participate in the archive. If you know someone who has any unusual memorabilia particularly anything that promotes Henley Hockey Club then please pass it to Dave Dickie (daviddickie@talktalk.net).

The Museum will be exhibiting at major hockey events in the UK such as the European Championships at Lee Valley in August. So go along and watch England, Germany and the Netherlands but also look out for the Museum and maybe a mention of Henley.
