The best way to keep up to date with Henley Hockey Club

Men's 1s safe in South Premier League 1

Relief after a nervous two-week wait.

Following a nervous two-week wait, Henley Men’s 1s confirmed their South Premier League 1 status for next season thanks to Fareham Hockey Club beating Oxton Hockey Club in the National League Relegation Playoffs. This means Oxton from the North Conference will be relegated, along with either Indian Gymkhana or Fareham, who will face each other in a winner-takes-all tie after Easter. Henley will then face the relegated side next season in South Premier League 1.

2016/2017 was a tough season for the Men’s 1s with a catalogue of injuries throughout, including the long-term layoff of experienced defender, Robbie Mortimer. With Mortimer back next season and a fully fit squad available, interim Manager Ian Heggie is confident of avoiding another relegation battle.
