Henley Vets beat Gore Court 8-2 in the HA Masters' O40 Trophy to book a semi-final against Jersey at home on 19th April

For the second year running, Henley Men's Vets have earned a semi-final place in the HA Master's Trophy, with a home draw to Jersey HC on Sunday 19th April, beating Gore Court from Kent 8-2 at Jubilee Park last Sunday.

The defending champions produced their best display of the season to see off a Gore Court side which promised much but didn't travel brilliantly. David Ralph had put Henley 3-0 up after 30 minutes with three well-placed drag flicks from short corners and Henley went into the break at 4-0 when Paul Chedzey finally connected with the ball to tap in at the far post.

Chedzey repeated this 4 minutes into the second half and excellent strikes from the top of the D by Terry Pollard, Jody Measures and Dom Day closed out the game with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Some languid defending allowed Gore Court to score two consolation goals in the closing minutes.

Henley's semi-final opponents, Jersey, have had a storming campaign, entering the Trophy competition after a narrow defeat to Trojans in the first round of the HA Cup. On the back of a run in which they had scored 20 goals and conceded just five and well-used to long trips to away fixtures, Jersey defeated Merseyside hopefuls Formby 4-1.

The semi-final takes place at Jubilee Park at 2.30pm on 19th April.
